THE LIVE FORMAT
A regular
Sacramento night.
We’re looking for a residency, monthly date, or biweekly run: a place to keep playing and build a following around a show that changes every time.
The audience supplies song titles. We improvise from there, moving between grooves, solos, and ideas as we hear them. We’re all multi-instrumentalists and sometimes swap mid-song. Guest musicians are often part of the lineup.
SETUP & PRODUCTION
Fairly self-contained.
Easy to set up.
We can provide PA. We’ll coordinate the lineup, space, set lengths, and sound requirements with the venue.
We record audio and video of every show. Sean handles engineering, and the recordings become part of the band’s growing archive.
Technical details are agreed for each room.
SHORT BIO
Anthroslop.
Anthroslop is a Sacramento jazz fusion band led by Sean Ashe and Matt Hopper, with founding members Jobany Betancourt and J.C. Sanchez. The project began as Jazz Odyssey, a name inspired by Spinal Tap. It was a reason to jam without a songbook or the pressure to make an album.
Those sessions built friendships across the Sacramento music scene. Today, the band draws from a core pool of multi-instrumentalists and guests. The focus is live: audience song titles become improvised songs, players swap instruments, and every show is recorded.
